HeadCount | Privacy Policy
Overview
HeadCount is an offline-first farm and animal management app. It is designed to function primarily on your device without collecting, transmitting, or storing any personal data on external servers.
Data Collection
HeadCount does not collect any personal data. Specifically:
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No automated crash reporting or telemetry
- No advertising or ad identifiers
- No cookies or web tracking
- No user accounts, logins, or authentication
- No access to your device contacts
- No personal data is transmitted to Vatyr Studios or any third party
Data Storage
All data you enter into HeadCount, including animal records, health logs, breeding records, weight measurements, field boundaries, feed records, financial entries, show results, photos, and settings, is stored exclusively on your device using a local SQLite database and local file storage.
- Data never leaves your device
- No cloud sync, backup, or remote storage is used
- Photos you capture are saved to your device's local app storage only
- Exported PDFs and Excel files are saved to locations you choose on your device
- Backup files (.headcount) are saved to locations you choose on your device
- Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all app data from your device
Network Usage
HeadCount is designed to work offline. The only network activity is optional satellite map tile caching for the field management feature:
- When you view or draw field boundaries, the app may download satellite imagery tiles from Esri's public map service to display your fields on a map
- Downloaded tiles are cached locally on your device so maps remain available offline
- No personal data, location coordinates, or usage information is sent to Esri or any other service. Only standard map tile requests are made
- If you do not use the field management feature, no network requests are made at all
- The app functions fully without an internet connection; cached tiles are used when offline
Location Data
HeadCount may request access to your device's GPS location for the field management feature:
- GPS is used only to center the map on your current location and to draw field boundaries
- Location data is stored locally as field boundary coordinates within your farm database
- Location data is never transmitted to Vatyr Studios or any third party
- GPS access is optional. You can use all other features without granting location permission
Permissions
HeadCount may request the following device permissions:

| Notifications | To send local reminders for vaccinations, breeding due dates, and other scheduled events |
These permissions are used solely for the described purposes. No personal data obtained through these permissions is transmitted off your device.
Third-Party Services
HeadCount does not integrate with any third-party services that collect user data. The only external service accessed is:
- Esri Satellite Map Tiles: standard map imagery is requested when you use the field management feature. No personal data, account information, or usage analytics are sent. Only map tile coordinates are requested, which is standard behavior for any map application.
There are no third-party analytics, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or social media integrations.
Children's Privacy
HeadCount does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since the app collects no personal data, it is compliant with COPPA and similar regulations by design.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this location with an updated effective date. Since HeadCount collects no personal data, material changes to this policy are unlikely.
